After a short illness, Harry died at about 6.00am on Saturday 4th March 2000 in the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. He was 73.

The funeral was held on FRIDAY 17th March 2000 at 3.00pm at Salisbury Crematorium - an impressive turnout with many friends, colleagues and family. The service was led by Revd Bill Wilson, a former colleague of Harry's who worked at the IBA before leaving to join the church.

Les Kingsbury gave an emotional address at the begining of the ceremony - he had known Harry over 60 years, was best man at his wedding to Dorothy and godfather to their son John (and continues to act as a great-god father to John's son William). In return Harry was best man at Les' wedding to his first wife Yolanda and godfather to their son Alan.

A small reception was held in the Grosvenor Hotel, Stockbridge for close family and friends - whilst another gathering of former colleagues met up at the Vine Inn opposite..
